Working across all of the Council’s activities, the Internal Audit Team at Coventry helps to ensure that the organisation is able to respond effectively to the fast-changing environment in which local government operates.  The Team has recently undergone a restructure to ensure it is well positioned to meet future challenges and we are committed to continuous improvement and adding value for our customers. 

As a pivotal part of this journey, we are looking for a proficient and enthusiastic Senior Auditor to play a crucial role in delivery of the Internal Audit Plan.  As part of a small Team, you will carry out a range of audit work across the Council, including complex and high-profile reviews to provide assurance to senior management and add value to the organisation. You will identify creative solutions and work closely with customers, including senior managers, to deliver quality audit work.  You will also help the service to lead and develop other members of staff and play a key part in continuously improving the Internal Audit Team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious candidate wanting to advance their career in Internal Audit, and gain experience of leading people and growing talent. You will be a Certified Internal Auditor (or be willing to study for the qualification), with excellent written and verbal communication skills.  You will have extensive experience of undertaking risk based internal audit reviews across a varied remit and have excellent analytical skills, with an ability to interpret complex information. With excellent attention to detail, you will be able to work on your own initiative and have the ability to juggle conflicting priorities, whilst meeting deadlines.  You will have experience and confidence working with colleagues at all levels to create positive relationships.
