Our dedicated internal audit function provides assurance and consultancy services to both Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council, plus trading organisations too.
We have a superb opportunity for a Principal Internal Auditor to join our team and enhance governance risk and control at two innovative Councils in one of the fastest growing areas in the country.
Working closely with the Head of Shared Internal Audit, you will be responsible for supporting delivery of the risk based internal audit plan, plus supporting consultancy activities which drive positive change within the Council and provides assurance to our stakeholders. You will need to be flexible and work across multiple sites, and in return we will provide the tools and technology for you to work smartly and flexibly.
With your excellent critical analysis and problem-solving skills, you will provide clear and concise advice to members and management on governance risk and control. You will also play a key role in the supervision, training and development of a small team of Senior Internal Auditors and Audit Assistants.
You will be suitably qualified Principal Internal Auditor who can inspire trust, confidence, respect and credibility from a range of people. Your experience may come from practice or industry, and previous knowledge of local government, whilst an advantage, is not essential. You will, however, have a strong interest in working within a challenging sector in a complex political environment.
Whilst there is a high level of responsibility attached to this role, you will be fully supported throughout, with a focus on your personal and professional learning and development.
